Facebook has announced that it will start demoting all content posted from users who have broken its rules anywhere across its platform.

Specifically, Facebook will begin to demote all Groups content from rule breakers, and they will see the content they share in Groups downranked. By demoting, Facebook means it will show the content shared by these members lower in the News Feed.

According to Facebook, “This measure will help reduce the ability of members who break our rules from reaching others in their communities, and builds on the existing restrictions placed upon members who violate Community Standards.

There are many levels of "punishment" based on how many times the user violated the rules. For example, having one post removed for breaking Facebook's Community Standards in the preceding 90 days equals one level, but having numerous posts removed results in "more severe" demotions.
