Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic unveiled the third-generation spaceship (VSS Imagine) which will be used theoretically to carry tourists into space, despite the fact that the previous model (VSS Unity) has failed to make a successful flight today.

VSS Imagine doesn’t have quite big design differences compared to the previous models of the company. However, new mirror-like material has been used, which reflects the surrounding and according to Virgin Galactic, this choice was made to provide greater thermal protection. It should be mentioned that it will be transported to a high altitude with the help of another larger spacecraft, but considering its construction is much easier this time for the spaceship to be maintained. Also, it would be able to perform more frequent flights (estimated 400 / year).

Spacecrafts of Virgin Galactic are designed and built to give thousands of people the opportunity to come closer to the transformative experience of spaceflight. ‘’VSS Imagine is not just beautiful to look at but represents the company’s growing fleet of spaceships. All great achievements, creations, and changes start with an idea. Our hope is for all those who travel to space to return with fresh perspectives and new ideas that will bring positive change to our planet”, as Richard Branson said.

The first trials of VSS Imagine will take place in the summer, while the VSS Unity will be tested again next May. Furthermore, Virgin Galactic is already working on the next generation called VSS Inspire.
