Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be released for PlayStation 5 on June 26th, according to game creator and Kojima Productions founder Hideo Kojima, who revealed the news during a panel at SXSW 2025.
The teaser provided a new 10-minute look at Death Stranding 2 and its cast, which included some new faces. Norman Reedus will reprise his role as Sam Bridges, the package-toting hero of the game's odd plot, in the sequel. Léa Seydoux and Troy Baker will also return, as Fragile and Higgs, respectively. Elle Fanning (Tomorrow), Shioli Kutsuna (Rainy), and George Miller (Tarman) will portray new characters. The cast also includes Luca Marinelli as Neil, Debra Wilson as Doctor, and Alissa Jung as Lucy.
Death Stranding 2's latest trailer even looks to make a few references to Kojima's earlier game franchise, Metal Gear Solid. Marinelli's Neil resembles Solid Snake at one point, and the huge tar creature that combines with the DHV Magellan has Metal Gear Rex/Sahelanthropus vibes. Aside from that, Death Stranding fans will find plenty of gaming action and story hints.
The new trailer from Kojima Productions indicates that Death Stranding 2 takes place 11 months after the founding of the United Cities of America. Servers line the beach, and deliveries have been automated, ostensibly leaving porters like Sam out of job. Chiralium from the Beach continues to alter the environment (and the cats!), as a new faction gains traction. However, none of this appears to deter Sam from performing his job.
Death Stranding 2 has only been confirmed for PlayStation 5, however a PC version may be released later if Sony's habit of delayed ports continues.
