FAQs

PayAsYouGo identification is simply verifying your personal (like your name and ID) or company details (such as registered name and registration number) so that your number is safely linked to you. It helps protect you from fraud, ensures your info is secure, and keeps you in line with the law for prepaid mobile services, as per Law 63(I) 2024.
Just one key step – you’ll need to agree to the Solemn Declaration.

Yes – it applies to all PayAsYouGo connections, no matter the device. This includes mobile phones, alarms, smart devices, and more.
Only adults can register as owners. If a child under 18 is using the number, an adult must register it first, and then the child can be added as a user.

Yes, the deadline is 10/11/2025. If you don’t complete identification by then, your PayAsYouGo will be disconnected and any remaining balance will be lost.

Nope – it’s completely free!

You can complete the process online at www.primetel.com.cy/activate
However, if you're representing a company, you're a non-EU citizen without a passport, you're registering a minor as a user, or the SIM is in a device that can’t be opened (like an elevator or alarm), you’ll need to visit a Primetel shop.
Also, if you have an old-style laminated ID, you might not be able to complete the process online – so a visit to a Primetel shop will be necessary.

Here’s how:

• Go to www.primetel.com.cy/activate

• Enter your details

• Upload a photo of your ID

• Take a selfie

• Accept the Solemn Declaration

Make sure you have your ID and PayAsYouGo SIM handy. Your documents are only kept until the identification is complete.

For corporate PayAsYouGo numbers, visit a Primetel shop with your Company’s Registration Certificate and Directors’ Certification. For help, just call 133.

The PUK is a unique code for your SIM card’s security. You’ll find it on the packaging your SIM came in or by sending an SMS with the word mypuk to 8133.

• Cypriot citizens: Cypriot ID card

• EU citizens: ID or passport

• Non-EU citizens: Passport

• Non-EU citizens without a passport: Visit a Primetel shop with your immigration permit or proof of application for international protection or residence

Don’t forget to bring your SIM card and your PUK code.

Yes – once done, it’s final. Your info can only be deleted if you cancel your service or transfer ownership of your PayAsYouGo. If you sell or give away the number, the new owner needs to be identified too.

We don’t recommend it. If you don’t update the ownership info, we can’t help you with things like security issues, lost numbers, or service details. The original owner stays legally responsible, so it’s better to avoid buying or selling registered PayAsYouGo numbers.

There’s no limit – you can register as many as you need!

Yes – starting November 11, 2025, you must complete identification before activating your new number.

Just drop by a Primetel shop with your official ID or passport and we’ll help you out.

Only if you stop using the service or transfer it to someone else. Otherwise, the identification stays.

We keep your info for as long as you use the PayAsYouGo service – this helps us manage your account, respond to questions, and prevent fraud. You can find more in our Privacy Policy.

You and the new owner just need to visit a Primetel shop together with your IDs. The new owner will sign the Solemn Declaration and the number will be updated under their name.

Along with your ID and SIM card, you’ll need proof that you own the number (if you’ve already been identified by your current provider).
