The video games industry is beginning to make its presence felt quite a bit, as a sealed copy of Super Mario 64 broke the price record for a video game twice at auction last weekend, jumping from $660,000 to $875,000 and eventually to $ 1,560,000.
New records fell at Heritage Auctions and the auction was overly successful, as eight of the ten most popular video games in history sold in three days, including a copy of 1991 Super Mario World fetching $360,000, a 1985 copy of Super Mario Bros. fetching $228,000, a 1998 N64 copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time fetching $228,000, and a 1990 copy of Final Fantasy selling for $204,000.
