Airbnb adds new tool to help hosts include WiFi info in listings

Airbnb is adding a new tool to its app, allowing hosts to test and list WiFi speeds at their rentals, because it’s aware that the ability to have strong internet when you’re booking is a useful feature.

Hosts can find the new feature in the Add your WiFi Speed menu in the Amenities section of a listing. After testing WiFi speed, hosts can save the result on the menu and the app will include it into your listing. That simple.

Connection speed information will be recorded by Airbnb and M-Lab, the organization that provided the platform with the open-source software to build the new speed test tool. M-Lab will also store the results in a publicly available database for use by researchers.

The Wi-Fi speed test tool has started rolling out on the Airbnb app in the US, and it will expand globally in the coming weeks.
