Apple unveiled Apple Intelligence, which harnesses the power of Apple silicon to understand and create text and images, leverage apps and, using the user's personal content, simplify and facilitate everyday tasks. With Private Cloud Compute, Apple is setting a new standard for privacy in AI, with the ability to complete processing either on the device or exclusively on Apple silicon servers.
The new iOS 18 makes iPhone even more personal, capable and smart. This new update includes the biggest redesign ever of the Photos app, new ways for users to manage their Mail inbox and more. Users will be able to configure their apps and widgets in any available spot on the Home Screen, customize the buttons at the bottom of the Lock Screen, and quickly access more features in the Control Center. Photo libraries are automatically organized into a new unified format in Photos, and new photo collections keep favorites easily accessible. Mail sorts incoming email into categories using the device's "intelligence," and new text effects are coming to iMessage. On iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 18 introduces Apple Intelligence, which based on a user's personal content offers information that is more useful and relevant to them.
The new macOS Sequoia takes Mac productivity and intelligence to new levels. macOS Sequoia is packed with new features, including iPhone Mirroring, which extends Continuity by allowing full access and control of the user's iPhone directly from macOS. Safari will include the new Highlights feature for seamlessly finding information on web pages while browsing. The new Password app makes it even easier to access passwords and organize credentials, all in one place.
iPadOS 18 introduces powerful new intelligence features and apps designed for the Apple Pencil. The Notes app comes with Math Notes, which allows users to type or write mathematical formulas and see them solved instantly in their own handwriting. iPadOS 18 has even more options for users to express themselves, including brand new ways to customize the Home Screen and app icons as well as the Control Center. The redesigned Photos app - takes advantage of the iPad's large screen and keeps libraries organized while reducing search time.
The new watchOS 11 offers important health and fitness information and even more personalisation. The new Vitals app provides key health metrics and information to help users make better decisions every day. The ability to measure workout difficulty is key to improving fitness and workout performance. Activity cycles are even more personalized, the Smart Stack and Photos app use intelligence for more personalization, and the Apple Watch and Health app on iPhone and iPad offer additional support for pregnant women.
Apple also announced updates to the AirPods and tvOS 18 operating systems.
The new operating systems as well as Apple Intelligence in beta will be available this fall.
