Samsung is setting a fresh standard in the flagship tablet landscape with the official introduction of its Galaxy Tab S12 lineup. Anchored by the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+, this generation merges raw processing capabilities with extreme portability. Designed specifically to serve demanding professionals and digital creators, these slate computers focus on ultra-slim engineering, long battery life, and deeply integrated artificial intelligence features right out of the box.

Physical engineering stands out as one of the most remarkable accomplishments in the new design. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra measures a razor-thin 5.1mm in depth, making it the slimmest tablet engineering attempt by the tech giant to date despite housing a massive display canvas. The Galaxy Tab S12+ keeps pace closely with a 5.3mm profile and a lightweight chassis starting at 553 grams. Both models achieve an IP68 certification against water and dust exposure, ensuring durability for outdoor workflows. Each tablet ships with a redesigned S Pen that delivers a natural sketching and writing feel, although Bluetooth Low Energy functionality is omitted from this base stylus variant.

On the front, both devices showcase vibrant Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays capable of smooth 120Hz refresh rates. The top-tier Ultra variant carries an expansive 14.6-inch panel with a resolution of 2960 x 1848 pixels, providing an expansive space for dense multitasking workflows. The smaller 12.6-inch version maintains high visual sharpness with a 2800 x 1752 pixel setup and even narrower surrounding borders than its predecessor. Maximum brightness tops out at 1,600 nits, bolstered by upgraded Vision Booster algorithms to preserve legibility in harsh lighting. Sound quality receives a major overhaul through a new 4-channel spatial audio quad-speaker array that delivers rich, immersive acoustics.

Underneath the hood, Samsung has chosen MediaTek power over internal or Qualcomm alternatives, equipping both models with the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. Compared to the previous generation, this processor delivers a massive 61 percent jump in Neural Processing Unit speeds, alongside a 19 percent improvement in CPU clocking and a 17 percent boost in graphic rendering performance. Heavy tasks like video rendering and detailed digital painting are sustained without thermal throttling thanks to a redesigned 3D Vapor Chamber cooling structure. Storage options scale up to 16GB RAM and 1TB internal capacity on the Ultra, while expanded microSD storage up to 2TB is supported across the range.

Operational endurance relies on high-capacity internal power cells. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra packs an 11,600 mAh battery rated for up to 23 hours of continuous runtime, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ carries a 10,600 mAh pack capable of reaching 21 hours. Charging occurs through a standard USB Type-C interface supporting 45W wired fast charging, allowing either device to replenish completely from empty in approximately 95 minutes when paired with a compatible brick.

Software operations run on Android 17 layered with One UI 9. Samsung guarantees continuous support with seven generations of operating system upgrades and security maintenance patches. Galaxy AI integration streamlines daily usage through Note Assist in Samsung Notes and intelligent context management across multiple browser tabs. On top of a complimentary six-month trial of Google AI Pro featuring Gemini Notebook, the series debuts pre-installed desktop-class software including Adobe Photoshop powered by Adobe Firefly Generative AI tools and Notability note-taking applications.
