With the release of the Mate XT, Huawei has raised the bar for folding phones. It features a unique design that sets it apart from all previous smartphones in the world as the first dual-folding, triple-screen smartphone. The Mate XT's 10.2-inch foldable display is substantially larger than competitors' and provides a tablet-like experience for customers.

Two hinges in the Mate XT's design allow it to fold into a Z-shape. It results in a smartphone display that is 6.4 inches when folded and 10.2 inches when completely unfolded. If users prefer more viewing options, they may also partially unfold the tablet to reveal a 7.9-inch screen.

Even yet, the Mate XT isn't overly thick considering its folding mechanism; when folded, it's 12.8 mm thinner than Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold6.

It is powered by a Kirin 9010 5G chipset. It also boasts a respectable 5,600mAh battery with support for both 50W wireless and 66W wired charging.

With a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 12MP periscope camera for 5.5x hybrid optical zoom, it also boasts an impressive camera system. Additionally, there is an 8MP front camera that is thoughtfully placed on the left side of the screen to enable both folded and unfolded selfies and video calls.

The Mate XT is a luxury device; in China, it starts at 19,999 yuan, or roughly €2500. However, Huawei intends to partially offset that high cost by offering a collection of add-ons, such as a folding split keyboard, wireless earphones, and a kickstand case, making it feel like a fully featured foldable device.

It's unclear when the Mate XT will be available outside of China as Huawei hasn't confirmed its plans for a worldwide release.
