Instagram looks to be allowing its users to highlight their musical tastes. In a recent update, a new function was added that allows users to upload their favorite songs to their Instagram profiles. The music added to the user profile appears in the Bio section.

Notably, this feature had been under testing for some months and was initially only available to a small number of individuals. Instagram has now confirmed in an official post on Threads that this functionality will be available to all users of the social media network.

The inserted song will remain on the user's profile until the user removes or modifies it. While the feature is similar to Myspace, it varies in that, unlike Myspace, songs added to an Instagram profile do not autoplay.

Adding a song to the profile is simple. The user must navigate to their Instagram profile page and select the "Edit Profile" button. There will be a new "Music" option accessible; tapping it will display a collection of music.

Users can utilize the search box to find their favorite tracks. To set the song as your profile music, simply choose it and hit the tick mark in the top-right corner. Every time someone visits your profile, they will be able to hear the song in your bio. Instagram allows you to select a 30-second section of a song.

Notably, Instagram is debuting this new function in partnership with Sabrina Carpenter, whose song "Espresso" has been a smash with music fans. Carpenter's official Instagram handle will feature never-before-heard music.

Facebook, Meta's other social networking site, tried a similar function, but it failed to gain popularity after receiving a low reaction. Threads now supports cross-posting from Instagram and Facebook, as previously mentioned. Cross-posting is limited to photographs and does not include Instagram Reels or Facebook videos.
