Mark Zuckerberg has officially announced at the company’s annual Connect conference that Facebook is rebranding as Meta - which will bring together its social media networks and technologies under this new brand.
According to Zuckerberg, the metaverse will be a place where people can communicate, work, and create products and he hopes that it will be a new ecosystem that provides employment for creators.
Zuckerberg said that metaverse will allow users to share immersive experiences with others even when they are unable to be together physically. It’s the next step in the history of social technology and it’s determining a new era for the company.
The company’s annual Connect conference has brought together augmented and virtual reality developers, content creators and marketers to celebrate the industry’s growth.
