It took 5 years from the release of Sony's first VR headset for the company to proceed with the announcement of the second generation, as well as another year to see it in product photos. Sony has revealed both the look and some of the features of the PlayStation VR2.

The new PlayStation VR2 follows the design philosophy of the PlayStation 5 game console, with a slim line, smaller size and weight than its predecessor and some impressive features that promise an unprecedented virtual reality experience. Specifically, the PlayStation VR2 will offer 4K HDR resolution, Tempest 3D AudioTech audio technology, tactile feedback technology, user eye detection technology and the ability to adjust the focus of the lens, while accompanied by new remote controls and connection to the PS5 via a USB Type-C cable.

Especially for the remote controls, Sony states that they will enable the user not only to interact with the virtual world, but also to feel it when and where it is needed.

The release date and price have not been announced so far.
