Consumers around the world are eager to enjoy the luxurious Dubai Chocolate. Cybercriminals have been quick to exploit this trend to deceive unsuspecting shoppers. Cyber security experts have uncovered a range of scams related to the ever-increasing demand, from fake knock-offs of well-known and trusted brands to the creation of entire fake online stores.

Fake official stores

Experts identified a scam campaign targeting consumers in the UAE, in which cybercriminals created fake websites impersonating Deliveroo, the well-known delivery service, and Fix Dessert Chocolatier, which created the famous Dubai Chocolate. By mimicking the appearance of official stores and platforms, cybercriminals are exploiting consumer trust and brand reputation to lure unsuspecting shoppers into ordering chocolates that are never delivered.

Independent fake shops

In other cases, fraudsters have set up entire fake e-commerce platforms, pretending to be independent suppliers from around the world. These fraudulent websites claim to trade Dubai Chocolate, but disappear as soon as they receive payment, leaving consumers empty-handed. These illegal shops target users around the world.

To avoid this kind of fraud, experts advise:

  • Verify the authenticity of the website: Check URLs, domain names and customer reviews before making purchases online.
  • Be wary of unexpected offers: Scammers often use pop-ups, ads or phishing emails to direct users to fake websites.
  • Avoid sharing personal information: Only share sensitive details on secure, verified platforms.
  • Use comprehensive security solutions: Reliable cybersecurity software can block phishing sites and prevent malware infection.
