TikTok hits 1 billion monthly active users

TikTok announced that it has 1 billion active global users.

Even though the US government has probed TikTok for its data-collection practices and suspicions of spying on American citizens, and it faced a US ban during the Trump administration, the social media platform succeed to reach 1 billion monthly users worldwide.

It should be mentioned that Instagram hit this same milestone in the summer of 2018 and has been scrambling to maintain its status as the most popular social media platform ever since. In fact, Instagram and YouTube attempted copy mimic TikTok with Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, respectively.
