TikTok announces a series of initiatives aimed at supporting wellness and increasing access to reliable mental health information through authoritative resources on TikTok. They are introducing guided meditation practices available to our entire community while expanding our Mental Health Education and Promotion Fund.

The company recently announced a trial run to encourage young people to unplug at night. In their trial, 98% of teens maintained an active meditation experience.

Research shows that mindful meditation can improve sleep quality in people of all ages and so TikTok will be introducing meditation into their Sleep Hours feature for all their users, regardless of age. For teenagers under the age of 18, this feature will be enabled by default. If a teen chooses to use TikTok after 10pm, the "For You" stream will be interrupted by a guided meditation practice, helping them to relax in the evening. If he decides to spend extra time on TikTok after the first reminder, a second full-screen reminder will appear, harder to ignore. Adults can activate "Sleep Hours" at any time from the "Screen Time" settings page.

TikTok announces a $2.3 million donation of advertising credits to 31 mental health organizations in 22 countries around the world as part of the Mental Health Education and Promotion Fund. Combined with the training provided by TikTok, this funding will help the organizations create even more informative and engaging content around mental health issues, targeted to audiences around the world.

The company established the Mental Health Education and Promotion Fund in 2023 to support organisations in creating authoritative, engaging and encouraging content about mental health. Since its inception to date, it has helped achieve significant results: over 173 million content impressions, more than 600,000 new followers, over 200,000 website visits, and the recruitment of 486 new volunteers, with total donations reaching $7.3 million.

Through TikTok's integration of guided meditation for all and ongoing support of mental health organizations internationally, we are actively showcasing the positive impact of the platform's community, whether it's #GivingSzn charitable giving, educational experiences in the STEM feed, or responding to AMBER ALERT alerts to find missing children.
