You're probably familiar with Shazam, an Apple-owned software that tells you the name of a song playing nearby. However, TikTok intends to elevate this experience by offering a Shazam-like tool that allows users to find songs by singing them.

The company has been developing a new function called "Sound Search," which allows you to find a music by singing, humming, or just playing it. TikTok is a video-focused platform, therefore the app will display popular videos featuring the recognized song.

Interestingly, TikTok states that the technology was designed especially for finding music, but it appears that it can also find famous sounds and memes.

To utilize the function, press the microphone icon in the TikTok app's Search Tab. Unfortunately, the business states that Sound Search is currently only available to a small number of people. There is no information on which regions TikTok users currently have access to Sound Search.

Although Apple's Shazam cannot identify hummed tunes, an upgrade last year added the ability to recognize music playing in apps like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.

The TikTok app is free on the App Store and requires an iPhone or iPad with iOS 12 or later. To take use of the new features, ensure that you have the most recent version of the program loaded.
