YouTube redesign and new features announced

YouTube is getting a fresh look and some new features. First, we'll now be able to pinch-to-zoom videos on the Android and iOS version of the service, just like we know from photos. The feature has been available as a test for YouTube Premium subscribers since last August.

Another trick is to more easily find what interests you in the video. In the version of YouTube for Android devices, iOS devices and desktops/laptops you will be able to drag the cursor with absolute precision to the frame you want to see (either forward or backward), just like on popular streaming platforms.

In the visual part, the new ambient mode is added to automatically adjust the background to the colors of the video you are watching, which will clearly offer the user a more immersive viewing experience without distractions. It will also be available in playlists, even in dark mode, which becomes darker than ever.

Finally, the links in the video descriptions are converted into buttons and the Subscribe, Like, Share and Downloads are redesigned to make them easier to find.
