Microsoft unveiled details about the gameplay of Age of Empires IV, as it keeps its promises. In fact, Relic was very generous in the details provided, informing gamers of all the new features, functions, and available cultures that will be included in the game, which will be released next fall.

In Age of Empires IV, there will be eight different civilizations, such as Mongols, Delhi Sultanate, Chinese, and English. Unique features will be available in each civilization like elephants in the Delhi Sultanate and the transfer of buildings and/or cities for the Mongols.

The company pointed out that all maps will be chosen randomly because its intention for gamers focuses on avoiding to gain an advantageous position, knowing the pros and cons of each civilization. For example, Mongols would be benefited from an open map full of steppes, however, they would have a hard time encountering the mountain ranges.

The Age of Empires IV will feature four campaigns, which will be divided into acts (Acts). Currently, there is information only for the Normand conquest, while they said that we can see enough material in documentary form. The exciting thing about the Age of Empires IV is that gamers will be able to play on real historical events. As expected, they added features to the gameplay, such as stealth force, where ambushes will be set on opponents without being seen, or wall combat, where your units will fight in front of and above the walls of a city.

At the same time, Microsoft announced the second expansion for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, which will be distinguished from co-op mode, it focuses on Eastern Europe and will have the United States of America as a civilization.

Age of Empires IV will be available for Windows PC via Steam, Microsoft Store, and Xbox Game Pass in the fall of 2021.
