The next installment in the iconic Black Ops saga has been officially confirmed. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is on the way, promising players a darker, more intense, and psychologically charged experience than ever before. Developed by Treyarch in collaboration with Raven Software, this latest title marks a historic first for the franchise — a direct sequel within the Black Ops series, picking up the story right after the events of Black Ops 6.

Set in the year 2035, Black Ops 7 unfolds in a world on the edge of total collapse. The aftermath of global unrest, fueled by the psychological warfare seen in Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6, has left societies fractured and trust eroded. In this climate of fear and manipulation, players will follow David Mason and his elite team as they confront a mysterious enemy who uses psychological terror as their deadliest weapon.

Matt Cox, General Manager of Call of Duty, shared insight into the creative vision behind the upcoming game. “The Black Ops universe offers an incredible playground for storytelling,” Cox said. “Our goal was to deliver a back-to-back experience within this sub-franchise that respects its legacy while pushing its boundaries. Players can expect intense gameplay, deeply developed characters, and a narrative that challenges their perception of reality.”

In addition to its gripping storyline, Black Ops 7 will bring a robust offering across all core game modes. The new Co-op Campaign allows players to team up or go solo in a high-stakes narrative experience shaped by near-future technology and morally complex decisions. Multiplayer will be packed with new maps and tactical depth, continuing the series' tradition of fast-paced, customizable combat. And for fans of the undead, the game dives deeper into the twisted lore of the Dark Aether in a fresh Round-Based Zombies chapter that promises both innovation and nostalgia.

The journey toward Black Ops 7 begins with the release of an official teaser cinematic, unveiled as the first step in a wider summer reveal. Tyler Bahl, Head of Activision Publishing Marketing, explained the significance of this approach: “We’ve seen massive excitement from the community during Black Ops 6, and now, by staying within the same narrative arc, we’re giving players more time to enjoy everything the franchise has to offer before making the leap to this next chapter.”

Bahl added that this continuation allows the development teams to fully embrace a shift in tone and setting. “Transitioning from a 1990s backdrop to the future of 2035 opens new creative possibilities,” he noted. “We want players to truly feel the madness and intensity that Black Ops 7 brings to the table.”

The full reveal of the game is scheduled for later this summer, with more teasers, hints, and surprises expected along the way. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned, as the franchise is known for embedding secrets and layered clues within its promotional material — a hallmark of the Black Ops storytelling style.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will launch on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Xbox PC, Battle.net, and Steam. It will also be available from day one on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, making it accessible to millions of players at launch.

As the countdown to 2035 begins, one thing is certain — Black Ops 7 is poised to deliver one of the most ambitious and psychologically intense chapters in Call of Duty history.
