Apple is planning to release a new program called Digital Legacy that will allow user’s family members to access to his Apple ID and personal information, in case the main owner of the account dies.

In the Digital Legacy program, Apple ID users will be able to assign people as Legacy Contacts and they will be able to access to their personal data stored in that account. The company is trying to make it easier for the family of a deceased person to access to his Apple ID account, as current data makes it almost impossible to obtain a deceased person's personal information even by presenting a death certificate.

The Digital Legacy program isn’t available at the moment but will be part of iOS 15 and is expected this coming fall.
