On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the release of the original The Witcher, CD Projekt RED has officially announced The Witcher Remake, which is already in development and has even shared the first details with the public.

Known until recently as Project Canis Majoris, the remake will be a complete transformation of The Witcher released in 2007, the first of the famous RPG trilogy. Its development is based on the impressive technology of Unreal Engine 5 by Fool's Theory, a studio that has collaborated for many years with CD Projekt RED on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, while the company will maintain an advisory role.

As Adam Badowksi, head of CD Projekt RED, stated,

The Witcher was the one that started everything for CD Projekt RED, the first game we ever made and it was a huge event for us back then. Going back to that era and recreating it for a new generation of gamers is a hugely important event for us, if not the most important.
We are working with Fool's Theory, as many of its members have been actively involved in the development of The Witcher games. They know the hardware well, the desires of the gamers and of course they have the know-how to create amazing and ambitious games. It will take time before we are ready to share more with you, but it will be worth the wait.

The Witcher Remake has no release date as of yet.
