The rumors of the previous weeks have been confirmed in the best way possible and gamers have every reason to look forward to the summer, as Valve has officially announced Counter-Strike 2!

The new version of the popular competitive first-person shooter will be available as a free upgrade for CS:GO (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive) and gamers will even be able to carry over everything they've acquired from the previous game in the series.

Counter-Strike 2 is expected with radically redesigned maps, major upgrades to graphics and gameplay, but Valve is standing more than anything on the famous tick-rate, which is the response of the game's servers to gamer's actions. The company talks about instant recognition of the moment, for example, when the user shoots, so that the on-screen performance catches that exact moment and not necessarily what the gamer sees. In this way, even the infinitesimal delays that, however, play a tremendously important role in competitive gameplay will be avoided.

In addition, gamers will see a completely realistic new smoke bomb, with the smoke diffusing naturally through space and in a different way depending on each team member's viewing angle. It should be noted, however, that some of the classic tracks have only had their lighting improved via the Source 2 engine in order to keep their character unchanged.

Counter-Strike 2 is available now in a limited access version for anyone who wants to try it out, as long as they express interest and join the waiting list, of course. Valve makes it clear that not everyone will get access, so it's best for everyone to wait until the official launch in the summer.
