Hideo Kojima said over a year ago that his team is working on a sequel to Death Stranding, continuing Sam Porter Bridges' saga. During the first State of Play of the year, Sony and Kojima Productions showcased the gameplay of Death Stranding 2, featuring nearly 10 minutes of dialog and action. The game now carries the slogan "On The Beach".

The strange and fascinating teaser can be seen below, which has space ships pouring out of a baby's mouth, a fashionable weapon fashioned of an otherworldly electric guitar, a stop-motion companion, and a slew of other creepy and supernatural foes, to name a few curiosities.

While the activities in the original game brought the UCA (United Cities of America) together, the sequel sees Sam and some of his old pals work together to unite other regions.

"In DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH, embark on an inspiring mission of human connection beyond the UCA. Sam—with companions by his side—sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction," says the official description from Kojima Productions. "Join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles and a haunting question: should we have connected? Step by step, legendary game creator Hideo Kojima changes the world once again."

Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, and Troy Baker return to reprise their roles in the sequel, while Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and Academy Award-winning film director George Miller appear as new characters.

Death Stranding 2 is set to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 in 2025. While the original game was finally released for PC, it is uncertain whether the sequel would follow suit.
