If you haven't played Doom or Doom II in a while, a fresh rerelease from Bethesda on Thursday may be the perfect excuse to leap into the classic titles. The rerelease, Doom + Doom II, is a free update for anyone who already possess Doom (1993) or Doom II. It includes a new single-player episode and cross-platform deathmatch multiplayer.

With Doom + Doom II, you'll have access to both games as well as extra single-player content like John Romero's Sigil episode released in 2019 and Legacy of Rust, a new Doom episode created by "individuals from id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames," according to Bethesda. You will also be able to download single-player mods using a new in-game mod browser.

In terms of multiplayer, Bethesda has included 25 new deathmatch levels, bringing the total number to 43. The cross-platform deathmatch and co-op modes can also handle up to 16 players.

If you play on a PC, PlayStation, or Xbox Series X / S, the combined package supports up to 4K resolution and 120fps. Andrew Hulshult (who worked on the music for Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods DLC) has updated the game's music, which may be switched between current and older tracks at any time.

The game is available for PC (via Steam, Windows Store, Epic Games Store, and GOG), Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
