The much-praised deal between Elon Musk and Twitter for the acquisition of the company by the eccentric billionaire with an amount that reaches $ 44 billion is now off the table.

According to reports from the other side of the Atlantic, Elon Musk wants to renegotiate the amount for the acquisition of Twitter, because he is not convinced that the number of fake accounts (spam, bots, etc.) on the social network is below 5% of the total and in fact he considers that the number can exceed 20%!

In a series of tweets, Elon Musk clarified that his offer was based on the number of Twitter posts given to the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission), but the CEO of the company has publicly refused to provide evidence that the number of fake accounts is really around 5%.

In particular, Parag Agrawal (CEO of Twitter) said that it is extremely difficult to estimate the exact number and the answer he received from Elon Musk was simply the των feces icon. Musk also wondered how advertisers knew where they were making money from, and said it was essential to have accurate information on the issue in order for Twitter to remain financially sound.

It will be interesting to see how the story unfolds, but now it seems quite possible that the scenario will be canceled permanently.
