Epic Games Store, one of the most popular digital distribution web retailers, will soon be available on iOS and Android devices. Epic Games Store's official account tweeted a teaser announcement on Twitter today, but did not disclose any other specifics.
And, since we're talking about a distribution shop, Epic couldn't pass up the opportunity to criticize Apple. The teaser states that the future Epic Games shop for mobile devices would provide "same fair terms, available to all developers, on a true multi-platform store - with amazing games for everyone."
Epic and Apple have been at odds over App Store payments for many years. The rivalry between the two titans reached its pinnacle when Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store.
Despite the implementation of the EU's Digital Markets Act earlier this month, Apple nonetheless banned Epic's account from its store. Although the account was reinstated after a few days (with a hefty €2 billion punishment), it appears that Apple continues to play by its own rules.
Currently, Apple's App Store and Google's Play Store are the largest and most popular app shops for Android and iOS devices, but having a third option is obviously beneficial for developers, especially if the Epic Games Store has cheaper costs than the other two.
