The Epic Games Store is now available on the iPad for consumers in the European Union, allowing them to play popular titles like Fortnite and Fall Guys.

The rollout is part of Monday's iPadOS 18 update, which allows EU customers to download programs from third-party app shops on their iPad. Last month, the Epic Games Store and other alternative software shops emerged on iPhone in the EU.

In April, the EU designated iPadOS as a "gatekeeper" service under the Digital Markets Act, allowing Apple six months to comply with rules. Apple must allow iPad users in the EU to select their default browser and uninstall built-in apps, just as it does with the iPhone.

Along with the Epic Games Store, the third-party marketplace AltStore PAL (now free to download) has landed for the iPad, providing access to the classic Nintendo game emulator Delta and more.
