Facebook adds labels to make satire posts more obvious

At a time when fake news dominates in conjunction with the confusion of readers to the source of news, Facebook is trying to put an end to this situation by adding labels on pages.

Many times, Facebook users have shared the news, considering them serious, when in fact they have a humorous or satirical style.

Facebook, therefore, decided that the posts published by pages on users’ Newsfeed can be included in three different categories to be perfectly clear the style of content. To be more specific, the labels will be added under the name of the page and will be reported as either a «public official», or as «fan page» or as «satire page».

The company hasn’t clarified the exact reasons for the creation of the labels, however, it identifies the satire as "particularly important". This new feature of the labels is in a testing phase and it remains to be seen how it will evolve…
