Facebook and Instagram are giving all users the opportunity to hide public "likes" on their posts. In fact, Instagram said that hiding likes give users a chance to focus more on the content they share and not on the extent to how likable are by followers.

To enable the hiding of likes and views from your profile:

· Go to your profile on the platform and select the three horizontal bars on the top right.

· Select the "Settings" option.

· Look for the "Posts" option.

· Then click on "Hide Like and View Counts".

Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, said that similar features are also rolling out across Facebook. "You might've seen that we’ve been testing different options for a while and this update reflects the feedback we’ve gotten," Mosseri wrote. "We want you to feel good about the time you spend on our apps and this is a way to give you more control over your experience."

Facebook found that "not seeing like counts was beneficial for some and annoying to others, particularly because people use like counts to get a sense of what’s trending or popular, so we’re giving you the choice."
