For many years, Facebook insisted that its algorithms are able to filter the content posted by friends, groups and pages that users follow on the social network, so they can see in their News Feed what they’re really interested in. In general terms, Facebook claimed that machine learning systems know us better than we know ourselves.

Recently, the company decided to give users the opportunity to prioritize their friends' posts and pages to appear first in the News Feed, while now it goes one step further by offering the option to users to watch posts in chronological order. The Feed Filter Bar on Facebook application for Android and iOS devices will appear in the coming weeks, which includes three different types of monitoring posts.

In particular, the Feed Filter Bar is divided into three sections: Home, Favorites, and Recent. The first section (Home) displays posts based on the algorithm of Facebook. The second section (Favorites) prioritizes friends’ and pages’ posts that user himself has chosen. The third section (Recent) displays all the content in the correct chronological order.

It should be mentioned that for years there was available to see the content on Facebook in chronological order. However, the company has nearly hidden the option in the shortcut menu (Most Recent) and those who use it will have noticed that after a while comes back into the algorithm operation.

Additionally, Facebook launches a new tool that allows users to choose who can comment on posts that are available publicly, gives the option to hide political ads, and adds more explanations to the tool "Why am I being this?".
