A new Gemini tool can assist with fine-tuning emails that are in draft status. Google has added two new features to Gemini: 'Help me write' for polishing Gmail drafts on web devices and 'Refine my draft' shortcuts for Android and iOS devices.

This is how the technology works. When it comes to improving a draft message, Google indicates that you have three options: formalize, elaborate, and shorten. Choose one of these alternatives, and AI will formalize your words, elaborate on them, or shorten them. If you like the recommendation, select 'Replace' to accept the revised version.

Your message does not need to be comprehensive either. Google claims that you may even enter preliminary notes into a draft of at least 12 words and have Gemini convert that text into an email that is ready to send.

If you are using Gmail on a mobile device, you will now notice a 'Help me write' shortcut in the email body. When you select that option, you will be able to witness the whole experience. If you start writing a few sentences, the procedure becomes 'Refine my draft'. If you like, 'Help me write' will create a message for you from scratch.

Gemini in Gmail is accessible to Google Workspace customers with a Google One AI Premium plan, the Gemini Education and Education Premium add-on, or the Gemini Business and Enterprise add-on.

Gemini 1.5 Pro offers substantial enhancements over its predecessor, including improved understanding and faster performance. Google said the updates are now available for all versions of Gmail.
