Sony held the most recent State of Play event today, giving fans a 30-minute preview of new PlayStation titles. However, one of the announcements was solely for PC, with another port being presented. Confirming prior claims, Sony is finally bringing God of War Ragnarök to PC, less than two years after it was released as an exclusive on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

The Santa Monica Studio-developed title will be released on PC on September 19, 2024, with Jetpack Interactive handling the porting process. This is the same firm that worked on the first game's PC port in 2022. Today's release validates reports that the title is the next port coming from PlayStation Studios.

Ragnarök's PC version boasts various useful features, similar to other Sony ports. For starters, the title will feature unlocked frame rates and true 4K resolution support for the first time, unlocking the "full potential of the cinematic no-cut camera as you travel through the stunning vistas of the Nine Realms to do battle against deadly foes in the forms of Norse gods and monsters."

Ultra-widescreen compatibility will be available for users with suitable displays, with aspect ratios ranging from 21:9 to 32:9. The developer is also investing heavily in upscaling technology. Nvidia's latest DLSS release, version 3.7, AMD FSR 3.1, and Intel XESS 1.3 will all be supported upon launch, allowing nearly all PC players to use any of the supported technologies to gain more frames.

The Valhalla expansion, which was free for PlayStation 5 players late last year, will now be available on PC. It brought a rogue-lite experience to the game, in addition to the critically praised storyline, focusing on randomized and difficult combat for Kratos to undertake. Although God of War Ragnarök is a single-player game, Sony explicitly states that an account on the PlayStation Network is required to play.

Pre-orders are now open for God of War Ragnarök, which will be available on Steam and Epic Games Store on September 19. There is also a Digital Deluxe version available for order, which includes early access to some upgrades, cosmetic items, the game's soundtrack, and a little artbook. System requirements and other information about the port will be published later.
