A new survey by Kaspersky reveals the most popular interests of children for the fall of 2022. This time, data from YouTube searches was analyzed, with Netflix's "Wednesday" generating the most buzz as the most popular series. "God of War" has also managed to capture the attention of many children along with the undisputed leaders in gaming - "Roblox" and "Minecraft". Plus, the "Beluga Cat" meme is getting a second life with its own YouTube channel.

December is the time to choose gifts and make children's dreams come true. But many times it is difficult for parents to understand what a child really wants. One way to find the perfect gift can be to explore children's interests. Kaspersky analyzed anonymized data provided by users of Kaspersky Safe Kids security software for children from August 28 to November 28, 2022, including YouTube searches.

What are the most popular series or movies?

This fall, the Netflix series "Wednesday" made a huge splash. Vloggers released videos dedicated to the makeup, clothes of the main character and Jenna Ortega's prom dance in the fourth episode, which also went viral.

More than 5 in 10 children searched for cartoons during this period in the categories "Cartoons, Movies and TV Shows" (50.48%). During the fall, kids were hooked on Netflix's "Inside Job" and Disney+'s "Zootopia+." In addition, one of the most popular movies was Enola Holmes 2, starring Millie Bobby Brown, which was released in October, also on Netflix.

Let's look at the games

November 2022 saw three new releases – Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, God of War Ragnarök and Just Dance 2023 Edition – all with plenty of new followers. They managed to attract huge attention among kids along with perennial leaders like Roblox and Minecraft.

Memes and other trends

This fall also saw the return of “Beluga Cat” thanks to her new YouTube channel. Another important topic was the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ during the build-up to the football tournament, which accounted for almost all searches in the "Sports" category.

As for toys, the LEGO Ninjago series is still extremely popular among all ages and takes the top spot. Interestingly, "Harry Potter" topics, including toys, LEGO sets and marketplaces, were also among the most popular searches in the fall.
