If you utilized Google's URL shortening service goo.gl before it was shut down in 2019, be aware that the URLs will stop working on August 25th, 2025. Google declared in a blog post that "the time has come to turn off the serving portion of Google URL Shortener" and that any links in the https://goo.gl/* format will reply with a 404 error the following year.

Before the shutdown, goo.gl URLs will display an interstitial page on August 23rd, 2024, informing users that "this link will no longer work in the near future." This warning will initially appear for a "percentage of existing links," which will grow as the deadline approaches. Google encourages developers to update impacted links as quickly as possible, as this interstitial page may cause link redirection issues.

In 2018, Google advised developers to use Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL) instead of goo.gl, which has subsequently been deprecated.
