The most recent major Android upgrade, Android 15, is now available for Pixel devices, according to Google. Android devices acquire key features all year long, unlike Apple devices, which receive updates once a year. With the release of the Galaxy S24 series, for instance, the Circle to Search feature was made available early this year. The release of the newest Pixel smartphone generation coincided with the release of the Gemini app and Gemini Live experience. Thus, there aren't many significant features included in the official Android 15 upgrade.

When Android 15's Theft Detection Lock function senses that someone has stolen your phone and is attempting to flee by bike, car, or other means, it will automatically lock your phone. With just a security check and your phone number, you may remotely lock the phone from any device. As of right now, Google has disclosed that Theft Detection Lock works with the majority of Android 10+ devices. Furthermore, Android 15 has increased the authentication requirements for settings that are commonly targeted by thieves, such as disabling Find My Device and deleting the SIM card.

The new Private zone feature in Android 15 allows you to set up a distinct, private zone to secure sensitive applications. Once locked in Private Space, the apps become inaccessible to others and disappear from the usual apps list, recent apps view, notifications, and settings. To access Private Space restricted apps, you must use an additional authentication mechanism.

Android 15 includes usability improvements for tablets and foldable devices. For example, you may now pin and unpin the taskbar on your screen. App pairing enables you to establish a quick shortcut to two apps that should be opened side by side for optimal multitasking. With a single press, you can immediately open them in split-screen mode for easier access.

Android 15 also includes camera enhancements such as improved Low Light Boost and in-app camera controls in low-light situations, accurate flash control in third-party apps, and more.

Android 15 now allows carrier messaging apps to use satellite connectivity to send and receive messages when a mobile or Wi-Fi connection is absent. Finally, you can utilise a single swipe to log into apps that employ Passkeys for authentication.

While Google has released Android 15 for Pixel devices, other OEMs such as Samsung, Vivo, Oppo, and others have their own timetables for releasing the Android 15 upgrade for their devices. If your Pixel device is eligible, you may check for the update by navigating to Settings > System > System Update.
