If your company is a G Suite legacy free edition user, you will soon be required to sign up for a paid subscription to continue using Google Workspace. In a recent email to existing G Suite legacy users, Google announced that businesses have until May 1 to choose a new Google Workspace subscription.

Otherwise, users will be transitioned into Workspace automatically on May 1, which they can use at no cost until July 1. They will then be upgraded to a new subscription plan based on the features that they use.

For those that do not enter billing details before July 1, Google will suspend those accounts, meaning that they get to access their account but some features may no longer be available until they start paying for the new subscription.

Based on the current subscription, it will cost users $6 a month for a Business Starter plan that comes with 30GB of storage, or $8 a month for a personal plan. More information on these changes can be found on Google’s support page.
