Google continues to expand the capabilities of its Gemini app, adding yet another powerful tool to its growing list of generative AI features. The company announced that Gemini can now automatically create slide presentations based on a simple text prompt or uploaded document, effectively turning it into a one-stop solution for users who need to turn ideas or information into polished, ready-to-present visuals.

The new feature, which is gradually rolling out to Workspace users, aims to simplify one of the most time-consuming parts of professional and academic life: creating presentations. Whether you’re preparing a business pitch, summarizing a report, or building a classroom lesson plan, Gemini can now handle much of the heavy lifting for you.

According to Google’s announcement, the process is straightforward. Users can start by entering a topic or uploading a file — such as a campaign brief, project proposal, or research paper. Within seconds, Gemini generates a set of slides complete with consistent design themes, relevant images, and structured content. The finished deck can then be exported directly to Google Slides, allowing for further editing or collaboration with colleagues and classmates.

Google describes the tool as a time-saver for professionals who need to produce content quickly but still maintain a polished and visually engaging result. Marketing teams, for example, can use it to turn brainstorming notes into pitch decks. Teachers can convert lecture notes into interactive lessons. Even students can summarize long study materials into concise, easy-to-review slides.

Using the feature is as simple as selecting the “Tools” option under the chat box in Gemini, choosing “Canvas,” and then prompting the chatbot to “create a presentation” along with your desired topic or file. Once the presentation is generated, you can make further refinements in Google Slides — from adjusting the layout and colors to adding personal touches or brand elements.

Currently, the slide-generation feature is available on the web version of Gemini, both on desktop and mobile devices. Google is rolling it out gradually across its Workspace tiers, including Business, Enterprise, Essentials, Education, and Nonprofit plans. It will also be available to users on Google’s AI Pro, Ultra, and Education plans in the coming weeks. While Workspace administrators do not yet have specific controls for this feature, Google has hinted that a free-tier rollout may follow in the near future.
