Instagram creators are experiencing new adjustments right now. Over the weekend, the social network revealed that a new set of tools will be available to Instagram producers to help them filter direct messages more easily.
The new tools will deliver messages to a user's inbox based on the controls they previously set. The new capabilities, built specifically for Instagram creators, will allow them to sort and filter message requests based on follower count, verified accounts, companies, creators, and other criteria.
Aside from the new filtering capabilities, Instagram has added a new "Story Replies" folder, which makes it easier to browse story replies by consolidating them in one location. This is one of the modifications demanded by creators over the years, and it appears that Instagram has finally chosen to listen to their criticism and deliver.
Adam Mosseri, Instagram’s head, recently explained the new changes in a post: “Now when you go to the Requests inbox, sometimes it can be really overwhelming. So, what we’ve done is added ways to filter down those requests to just see the ones that you’re looking for. There’s a lot more to do to improve the inbox for creators and requests. But hopefully, this is one step in the right direction.”
Creators will see "Sort & Filter" options at the top of their inbox, allowing them to sort requests by date or amount of followers the sender has. A few extra parameters can be enabled/disabled to suit certain circumstances that creators may have in mind, such as whether or not the account is verified or if it belongs to a creator/business.
These are just a few of the first major updates to the app's DMs section, but Instagram has committed to continue adding new features and improving this critical component of the service.
