Instagram is testing a new feature that will alert users when the platform is dealing with technical issues or outages, and when those problems are resolved.

Facebook’s platform is working on a new feature that will send an "it's not just you" notification to users, reassuring them that the company’s engineers are trying to fix the problem.

According to Instagram, “We’re testing a new feature that will notify you in your Activity Feed when we experience an outage or technical issue, and when it is resolved. We won’t send a notification every single time there is an outage, but when we see that people are confused and looking for answers, we’ll determine if something like this could help make things clearer.”

It hasn’t been clarified if this feature is only for Instagram or if it will be extended to other Facebook platforms. The test will run first in the U.S. and continue for the next few months, after which Instagram will decide whether to make it a permanent part of its service.
