Instagram will replace the Swipe Up feature with Link stickers

Instagram is changing the way of sharing external links within Stories. The current Swipe Up link will be completely removed from the process and will be replaced by a new Link sticker option.

The platform has announced that all users who currently can access the swipe-up link for Stories will be able to access the new link sticker from the end of this month.

This update is based on a test that the company started earlier this summer. In June of this year, Instagram began testing these stickers for a variety of users, not just users who already have swipe-up permission.

During the test, former Instagram’s product manager Vishal Shah stated that the goal is to roll out stickers more widely. Additionally, he said the main difference between these two functions is that viewers can reply to stories that have a link sticker, but they cannot reply to swipe-up stories.
