Microsoft is reconfiguring its Game Pass subscriptions, with the Ultimate and PC versions becoming more pricey, while console players have access to a new, lower-cost Standard edition. Also, the Game Pass for Console will be withdrawn.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which allows users to download and play games on PC and Xbox or use the cloud option, will increase from €14.99 to €17.99 per month on September 12. It's worth noting that the cheaper Game Pass Core (a 12-month subscription) is also becoming more expensive.

For new Xbox Game Pass subscribers, the new Standard plan is €14.99. The main differences from Ultimate are that you will not have access to new game titles on day one, and EA Play subscription is not included.

One more thing: the Standard Pass does not include cloud gaming on mobile devices. This also implies that the recently announced support for streaming on Amazon Fire TV Stick (4K or 4K Max) is not accessible, in case you were going to use one instead of an Xbox.

Some of you may be subscribers to Xbox Game Pass for Console. As of today (July 10), this option is no longer available to new members. If you are a subscriber and have set up automatic payments, you will continue to have access to this service. If not, you will have to select either Standard or Ultimate. Note: Game Pass for Console codes are still redeemable, although there is some fine print.

Prices for the PC Game Pass, which provides access to PC titles, are also changing, but they are less expensive than the new Xbox Game Pass Standard. Unlike the Standard subscription, you will have access to new games on day one.
