MusicLM is an AI tool that generates music from text by Google

While the world is dancing to the rhythms of the famous AI tool ChatGPT, and earlier with DALL-E, Google is coming to shake things up even more with a new AI tool that has the ability to create original music powered by text and sounds.

Specifically, the user-commander can describe in writing the genre and style of music or hum a tune and Google's tool will build a song based on the information received. For now the tool is called internally as MusicLM, but it's possible that the official name will change if and when it launches properly online.

In Google's related paper, MusicLM is described as a "model for creating high-fidelity 24 kHz music from written descriptions". The following description is used as an example:

The basic soundtrack of an arcade game with a fast-paced and catchy theme from an electric guitar. The music is easy to remember and repetitive, but includes unexpected sounds such as cymbals and drum fills.
