Netflix's gaming aspirations aren't just limited to enriching its catalogue for Android and iOS devices. The company has expressed many times in the near past its desire to bring Netflix Games to as many devices as possible, practically anywhere the service is offered, and obviously TV is the most important medium.
To that end, Netflix has reportedly already begun testing Netflix Games in the service's TV app, and one app developer even discovered in the code a reference to using the iPhone as a remote control. Such a development makes sense since every user has a smartphone (not necessarily an iPhone) in their hands and would certainly solve the compatibility problem immediately.
It is not excluded that similar tests could be done with Android smartphones or even with remote controls from other companies (e.g. Sony DualSense), but for the time being nothing similar has been discovered by the researchers. Given that Netflix is developing its own games and has its own game streaming service in the works, a solution to the remote control issue is a one-way street in order to make the project viable.
