As part of Tesla AI Day 2022, multi-billionaire Elon Musk unveiled a new prototype humanoid robot the company is developing, called Optimus, which aims to go into mass production at a relatively low cost within the next few years.

The company's CEO noted that Optimus has not been perfected yet, but the progress the development team has made in just 1 year is highly impressive. Optimus is intended to be used in production units (e.g. in the automotive industry), however, at the presentation we saw it perform simple tasks such as watering plants, carrying boxes and lifting metal bars.

According to Elon Musk, Optimus could enter mass production of millions of units even in 2023, while its cost will be less than $20,000. If the vision becomes a reality, then he claims we will experience a fundamental revolution in civilization as we know it today.

The truth is that experts and financial analysts were quite skeptical of the announcements of Elon Musk, who is used to being quite ambitious and pompous in his statements. It was worth noting that they place special emphasis on safeguards that will prevent humanoid robots combined with Artificial Intelligence from becoming a threat to humans.
