The 2nd Plenary meeting of the ADDAPT EU FP7 project was held at TE Connectivity, Den Bosch, The Netherlands between the 30-31st of July 2014.
The ADDAPT project promises adaptive data and power aware transceivers for optical communications. The aim is to exploit times that a network is underutilised in terms of capacity and adapt the optical transceivers accordingly. This will allow for the reduction in energy and power expenditure and hence minimisations of OPEX costs, something very attractive to network operators like PrimeΤel.
Other partners in the project include the Technical University of Dresden, IBM, HP Research Labs, Vertical Integrated Systems, Argotech, Warsaw University of Technology, Compound Semiconductor Technologies and TE Connectivity which hosted the meeting.
The project is 42 months long and its currently in its first year. PrimeΤel’s participation tasks include gathering of requirement based on a network analysis with real data, progress monitoring of the system based on KPIs, as well as validation testing of the proposed system components.
