Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Sucker Punch Productions have officially revealed Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition, marking a substantial expansion for the acclaimed PlayStation 5 action-adventure title exactly one year following its initial release. Scheduled to launch on October 1, 2026, this definitive release aims to refine the base experience while delivering a hefty injection of fresh gameplay modes, narrative arcs, and quality-of-life enhancements designed to appeal to both seasoned veterans and newcomers alike.
At the centerpiece of this comprehensive package is Echoes of Sekigahara, a major narrative expansion that weaves a dual-timeline story. The expansion transports players into an unexplored, rugged valley within Ezo, where protagonist Atsu confronts a perilous new threat orchestrated by a villain known as The Snake and his ruthless syndicate, the Vipers. In addition to expanding the geographical scope of the island, the DLC introduces heavily armored enemy archetypes, powerful heavy weaponry, and distinct armor sets that broaden tactical approach and visual customizability during combat encounters.
Beyond the present-day conflict in Ezo, Echoes of Sekigahara delves deeply into Atsu's origin story through playable historical sequences. Players will experience the devastating chaos of the landmark Battle of Sekigahara, witnessing the crucial turning points in the mainland that forged Atsu’s path toward vengeance long before her arrival in northern Japan. This historical component also introduces Nagato, a pivotal figure from her past whose arrival in Ezo reignites old ties and unresolved conflicts, giving fans a far more intimate understanding of her personal motivations.
Alongside the narrative addition, Sucker Punch is introducing Most Wanted, a brand-new single-player survival mode that infuses roguelike mechanics into the core gameplay loop. In this mode, players take on increasingly dangerous bounty contracts across distinct runs, unlocking survival perks and expanding their roster of playable characters as they defeat waves of adversaries. The mode dramatically alters combat dynamics by offering fighters with unique weapon skill sets, such as Oyuki, who utilizes the versatile reach of the kusarigama, and Nagato, who controls engagement distance with the lethal yari spear, contrasting sharply with Atsu's swift dual-katana mastery.
The Complete Edition further polishes the overall user experience by incorporating several highly requested quality-of-life updates via version patch 2.0. Players can now utilize a dedicated transmog system to customize their appearance without compromising armor stats, capture cinematic shots through expanded Photo Mode options, and enjoy an ambient viewing feature titled Beauty of Yōtei. Accessibility has also received attention through new high-contrast visual presets. Existing owners of the base game can upgrade digitally for 14.99 Euros, while the full package will be available to new buyers for 79.99 Euros on launch day.
