With a dramatic video for The Witcher IV, CD Projekt made a huge surprise revelation at the start of The Game Awards 2024. Although there isn't a release date yet, this new chapter in the epic RPG narrative will highlight Ciri as the new monster hunter.

The teaser opens with well-known Witcher imagery, showcasing a hooded witcher brandishing a silver sword and employing signals. We quickly learn that this is an older Ciri getting ready to interrupt a sacrificial rite, not Geralt. Despite being entirely cinematic, the clip contains a lot of features that might represent gaming proof of concept. As anticipated, Ciri employs a sword, potions, and signs to battle the deformed beast, but she also possesses a new chain weapon that she uses to eliminate the fiend.

Ciri confronts the villagers who are attempting to justify their conduct as being "for the gods" after realising she has still failed to save the young girl. In a witty reference to an early Witcher III teaser, Ciri responds, "There are no gods here, only monsters.”

The only other information regarding The Witcher IV that has been released is that it will be a brand-new single-player role-playing game developed on Unreal Engine 5, with the goal of creating "the most immersive and ambitious open-world Witcher game to date." The team hopes that this title will serve as the "beginning of a new saga" and depict Ciri's transformation into a true Witcher.

A remake of the original game and another dubbed Polaris, which we can now confirm is The Witcher IV, are among the other Witcher-related projects that CD Projekt has already disclosed.

There are currently no confirmed platforms or release dates for The Witcher IV.
