WhatsApp introduces new Status Update features

Meta has announced that it will improve WhatsApp Status to "reach the people who matter the most." The two new features are Status Likes and Private Mentions. The first function notifies you when someone privately likes your WhatsApp Status, and the second allows you to let your audience share your status with their audience by privately mentioning people you want to allow to reshare the status.

With the new status likes feature, you'll notice a green heart button beside the reply field. By clicking this, the creator will see that you enjoyed their status in the list of people who viewed it. Likes do not contribute to a counter, but are instead shared directly with the creator.

Private mentions, on the other hand, allow the status creator to privately tag those who are permitted to reshare their status. If you have been privately mentioned, WhatsApp will notify you privately. This function appears to be useful for raising awareness about events or problems that you care about and would like others to disseminate as well.

According to Meta, these functionalities are currently rolling out to all WhatsApp users. They will be accessible globally shortly. Meta stated that it will add more features to the Status and Updates tab in the next months to help you feel more connected to your friends and family, but did not provide any details.

Meta started releasing 10 new backgrounds and 10 new filters for WhatsApp video conversations earlier this month. Warm, Cool, Black & White, Dreamy, Dreamy, Prism light, Fisheye, Vintage TV, Frosted glass, and Duotone are among the filter options. Blur, Living room, Office, Cafe, Pebbles, Foodie, Smoosh, Beach, Sunset, Celebration, and Forest are some of the backdrops that will be available.
