WhatsApp introduces View Once feature for audio messages

In August 2021, WhatsApp launched the "View Once" function for photographs and videos, allowing users to communicate self-destructing photos and movies. WhatsApp has now enhanced that functionality to include voice communications.

View Once for voice messages, which should have been called Hear Once, operates similarly to View Once for photographs and videos. An audio message you send to the receiver cannot be listened again once it has been opened, nor can it be kept on their phone. The sender is also unable to listen to it after it has been sent.

If the receiver has read receipts enabled, the View Once audio message will additionally display a label reading "Opened" once the message is opened.

How to send View Once voice messages on WhatsApp?

• Open an individual or group chat.
• Tap the microphone.
• Swipe up to lock the recording.
• Tap and hold record.
• Tap view once icon (when it turns green, you’re in view once mode).
• Tap the send button.

According to WhatsApp, View Once voice messages are likewise tagged with the "one time" indicator in order to be consistent with View Once images and videos. They are also encrypted end-to-end by default. View Once audio messages will begin to be sent internationally in the following days.
