You will soon leave your likes on Instagram Stories

Until recently, every time you left a like on Instagram Story, you were essentially sending a personal message to the creator informing him that you liked his post. However, as revealed by the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, on Twitter, this will change soon as you will be able to like Stories anonymously.

Once the new feature is launched you will see a heart shaped button in Stories. It is exactly the same button as the one in the classic posts of the general feed, therefore, when you press it you will like your Story without sending a personal message to the creator.

It is a positive development for both the creators and the users, as the creators will not be overwhelmed by personal messages of "worship" to the extent that it becomes annoying, while the followers will be able to express their approval without anyone knowing. Unlike the classic posts, there will be no counter for the likes in Stories.

We will not see any change in the way Stories are published, users will just get an extra feature in the near future to like them.
